Dog Unit

Broadcast, 427 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow G2 5LG
12/10/24 - 19:00

Their unique sound — instrumental music that leans just as heavily on the tune-first, purist pop qualities of Burt Bacharach or The Strokes as much as it does the groove and ambiance of their post-rock forebears like Tortoise or Stereolab — has been championed from the outset by the likes of Steve Lamacq on 6Music and John Kennedy on RadioX, and has drawn a cult following over the course of 2023 via a sold-out year-long residency at Servant Jazz Quarters, where fans were able to hear the band’s album come together in real time.

'Concrete Barges on the Banks of the Thames' , and the latest single 'When Do We Start Fighting?' set the tone for Dog Unit's first album, full of evocative instrumentals and frantic bangers, all earworm melody, nagging groove and transporting atmosphere.

“A different type of musical texture, and a very pretty and moving thing it is too” — Steve Lamacq, BBC 6Music

"Propulsive and mesmerising... makes you wish more bands explored music without vocals" — Dan Cairns, The Sunday Times

“Melodic, foot-tapping, reverb-drenched kosmische... binds UK post-rock and electronica.” — Tristan Gatward, Loud And Quiet
